The Man Behind the Music...

Like many people that have grown up in the South Western suburbs of Sydney, Curtis Noah came from a broken home... But unlike so many of these people, he made a decision to break the cycle and he uses his many talents, to show us that anything is possible.

Born to Lianne Tomas and Bruce Allen...on the 2nd of June 1986.

Curtis's parents where no longer together when he was born and by the time he was around 3 it was established that his mother was unable to care for him properly. As a result he was taken in by his grandparents, he moved to England to a place called Slough, approximately 20 miles to the west of London. A place that Curtis describes as " Kinda tha burbs over there" he lived here until around 8 years old when he moved back to Australia with his grandparents.

After experiencing a lot of problems in school and always getting into trouble, Curtis was shipped off to live with his father at the age of 12. Curtis's father has been linked to numerous underground bands and just like his son... Bruce is an all rounder, composing, playing and producing his own music from his own label, Wet Dog Records...  He is also known as a "Beast on the drums". Together they lived in a warehouse that housed a 32 channel digital recording studio.

This situation gave "Promisques" the rare opportunity to learn music production and the art of performing through experience, and at the tender age of 12 he made his first beat in a studio, on acid pro a p.c program designed for mixing beats. Curtis was attending the Sydney Rd Community School in Melbourne, which at the time consisted of around 96 kids. This school is music based and Curtis appeared as the year 7 and 8 drummer. During this time he preformed at many of the school's end of term presentations playing covers of popular music.

At the age of 16 Curtis was forced to start a new kind of life. Leaving home, he was left to a life on the streets. Using his experiences as inspiration for his music Curtis took every opportunity he was given to write and record his work. In 2005 at the age of 19 Curtis received his first big break when "Parkside" a Central Coast youth group heard of his reputable style and approached him, requesting he appear on their upcoming album. Soon after his album appearance Curtis landed a real "gig" supporting one of Australian raps super-groups "The Herd". As Curtis gained more rep and acknowledgements of his ability, it opened the door for him to work along side well known Aussie artists such as Joel Turner, Phrase & Illy etc.

In 2006 Curtis created NOTORIOUS RECORDS. Producing and recording from his own home studio, from there on he threw himself into his music. The release of his mix tape "The Rebirth" in 2008 had many artists and fans talking about his vocal styles, some claiming that his style is reminiscent of the great Easy. E. The reaction to this release  gave Curtis the inspiration to relentlessly work on his sounds, recording around 80 songs and counting many still unreleased.

Curtis said on the release of his mix-tape "I was really happy with the reaction I got off the LP, the fans were really feeling it. Which in return makes me keen to get to work on the next project"

Much to the disappointments of various record labels that have approached him. Curtis still remains staunchly independent, choosing to focus solely on developing his own unique home grown sound, not a commercialised version of what he has been paid to spew out, making all the difference to his selection of released tracks.

The release of his E.P “Welcome To…” was taken to by his fans with open ears...

Promisques has preformed electrifying live shows and he sends the crowds into a frenzy every time he hits the stage.
